report at end of August showed a current balance of $1,199.31. This does
not include cash and check contributions received for T.H.R.E.A.T. (Tower
Hazards & Radiation Exposure Above Tolerance) account of Antenna Tower
Committee. Those funds are being accounted for to the board.

CARE letter of appreciation sent to Jeffco County Commissioners
Committee Reports:
HOA (Homeowners’ Association) Mentoring: Jeff Holland noted that Jefferson County has a form home owners can complete to be listed as a home owners association. Contact Jeff for details.Wildfire: Joan Schwarz–Lookout Mountain area participating as a demonstration site in Colorado Mitigation Wildfire Conference Sept. 17-19 in Lakewood. First 500 residents who request them can obtain a free uniform house number sign recommended by fire department. Call Joan at 526-0017.
Beaverbrook watershed/Chavez Trail:Transportation: Invited Colorado Intermountain Fixed Guideway Authority Chair Sally Hopper to attend November CARE meeting.
Land use: Bill Astle was asked to help write letter to Jefferson County Commissioners expressing CARE’s concern about standards and procedures and possible precedent in their approval of Eldorado quarry.
Antenna Tower Committee/T.H.R.E.A.T.: Sprint PCS stealth tower on Grapevine–Ron Larson discussed role of 10-member committee; noted Jefferson County Commissioners are named in two lawsuits related to tower issues, including one by Lake Cedar Group and one by Bear Creek Development Co. These say county erred in denying Lake Cedar’s rezoning request for Lookout Mountain supertower. Motion by Bill Astle approved to accept tower committee’s recommendation to act as an intervenor in support of Jefferson County in the lawsuits involving Lake Cedar Group and Bear Creek Development Corp.
Evergreen attorney Victor Boog is representing CARE and area residents who have sued JeffCo for permitting Fox Channel 31’s additional HDTV antennae on Lookout Mountain.
Another tower fund-raiser is scheduled Nov. 12 or 13 at Mount Vernon Country Club. Measurements of Sprint PCS stealth tower on Grapevine Road show electromagnetic radiation levels similar to background readings.Lariat Loop Heritag Project (CHAPS): Cynthia Pougiales received letter of endorsement from Jefferson County Commissioners.
Lariat Loop Mountain Gateway/Heritage Alliance submitted letter to Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways Commission proposing alliance area be designated an official Colorado heritage area.

Noxious Weed Program- Jefferson County is offering grants of $50
to $1,500 to groups in unincorporated areas for noxious weed removal/abatement.

CARE will submit required bi-annual corporation report requested by Colorado
Secretary of State’s office received by former CARE President Gerry Bowles.
