President Jeff Holland opened the meeting at 7:10 p.m. at Genesee Vista Clubhouse.

2. Special presentation - Galen Knickel, an original land owner and developer of Genesee, discussed past, present and future of Genesee.
3. Secretary's report - Linda Shanks - Minutes of 9/14/00 meeting were approved as written.
4. Treasurer's report - No report.
5. Homeowner association delegates' reports - No oral reports.
E-mail report from Katey Greene of Rilliet Park of suspicion of mountain lion in the area.6. President's Report - Jeff Holland reported on noteworthy exhibit featuring history of Mount Vernon Canyon is on display through Oct. 31 at Jefferson County Administration & Courts Facility at 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden. CARE delegate Carole Lomond supplied a number of photos and information and was instrumental in preparing the exhibit.
7. Reports of Committees
a. Wildfire- Joan Schwarz reported the county spent $73,950 to chip a record amount of slash brought to summer forest wood debris collection sites throughout Jefferson County as part of its wildfire remediation efforts. The canyon wildfire danger remains high during dry fall conditions.8. Old Businessb. Tower Committee/T.H.R.E.A.T. - Deb Carney reports a Halloween Ball fund-raiser to support the committee's on-going tower fights. The costume party dinner dance is Friday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at Mount Vernon Country Club. $75 per adult also includes costume awards and live auction. Children are welcome with adults until 7 p.m. Call 303-526-3093 for details.
She reported Channel 6 against was found to be exceeding electromagnetic radiation limits, based on Federal Communications Commission and CARE measurements. JeffCo issued the station a zoning violation in this incident. Deb also noted growing reports of increased interference from Fox 31/32 digital transmission affecting the canyon area.
CARE attorneys have submitted briefs in support of Jefferson County in Bear Creek Development Corp.'s appeal to overturn JeffCo Board of Adjustments' denial of TV transmitter on Mount Morrison. A decision date is unknown.
c. Open Space, Trails & Recreation Committee - Ron Larson and Don Patton are attending a meeting Oct. 25 of Clear Creek Canyon Advisory Committee on open space issues.
d. HOA Mentoring - No report.
e. Lariat Loop Heritage Alliance - Publication and distribution was announced of the alliance's first-ever map detailing 36 mountain historic sites and parks in the Lariat Loop Mountain Gateway. For details, visit the alliance web site at www.lariatloop.org. The public is invited to attend an alliance update of Lookout Mountain history and sites at Nov. 13 , 6 p.m., at Lookout Mountain Nature Center.
f. Transportation - No report, but discussion of CDOT community information session Sept. 19 on Hogback Park-n-Ride proposals. CARE is sending letter to CDOT firmly opposing the department's proposed expansion of Morrison Exit parking facility at I-70 and Hogback. g. Land use - No report.
h. Lookout Mountain Community Center Exploration Committee - Dick Bartlett and Joan Schwarz reported meeting with Indian Paintbrush area HOA to advise them of center/recreation district exploration issues. These folks approved the idea that CARE was exploring the future uses of the Lookout Mountain Church which borders their neighborhood.
a. Quarry trucks - A letter from CARE is being prepared.9. New Business - At Jeff Holland's request, Joan Schwarz and Ricki Hoekstra agreed to serve on CARE Nominations Committee to prepare a slate of candidates for 2001 officers and directors for November meeting. Persons wishing to serve on the Nominating Committee or wishing to be nominated, should please call or e-mail Jeff. Election of officers is scheduled at the Dec. 14 meeting with terms to begin in January. Jeff also requested that any volunteers with computer web site skills who are interested in assisting with maintenance of CARE web site contact him at 526-7387.b. Beaver Brook watershed - Don Patton reported there is progress toward passage in U.S. Congress of legislation authorizing expenditure of $2 million toward purchase of the watershed. Don also reported that Denver Mountain Parks is in early stages of its study/development of a parks master plan.
