Minutes from the
October meeting were reviewed and corrections recommended. Minutes were
approved as corrected.
-
Treasurer Report
- We have $2,948.95 in the CARE account.
The increase in funds is due to the hard work of Ricki Hoekstra with the
artist studio tour. Thank you Ricki!!
-
Presidents Update
- Discussion of a dinner to thank
the artists for their help. It was decided that a dinner, post tour,
is not necessary. Next time maybe a pre-tour dinner would be appropriate.
There is a need for an annual fundraising event such as an Author/Poet
Night, a Mount Vernon Canyon tour,Artists Studio Tour, etc.
-
Nominating Committee
- The committee presented Colin Barton
for President and Bill Dickson for Assistant Treasurer. A motion
was made and seconded to close nominations for these positions and a vote
was taken. Colin Barton will be the new president of CARE starting
January 1, 2003, and Bill Dickson will be Assistant Treasurer beginning
January 1, 2003. A search for other officers will continue. Possibly
Gerry Bowles for Vice-President.
-
Lariat Loop Heritage
Alliance- Carole Lomond has authored
a nice book on the LLHA. CARE has given 20 copies of this book to
Jeffco Open Space for their use. Colin motioned and Dick Bartlett
seconded to have CARE reimburse Carole $5 for each book given and to continue
the reimburse Carole at $5 per book when CARE gives copies to Jeffco Officials
or others.
-
Towers- Channel
2 digital tower is going before the Board of Adjustment December 4, 2002.
They have lowered their tower under 200 feet to take advantage of a loophole
in the county statutes.
There will
be many hearings coming up for Mt. Morrison and Lake Cedar Group
applications.
We are asking the HOA’s to register with the county and sign
a document that
allows CARE to use the HOA’s 10 min per hearing.
Wildfire- Colin
Barton reported that in the latest Genesee election held November 4, the
candidates who were interested in forestry management and thinning for
fire management were elected to the board.
Hogback Parking-
CARE will continue to monitor.
CDOT has no funds for this project at this time.
Community Awareness-
Colin suggested a newsletter to discuss
mail theft, cut phone lines, forest thinning and Neighborhood Watch programs.
There was a motion to appropriate necessary funds to have a newsletter,
seconded by Cynthia Pougiales and passes unanimously.
Open Space- Elmgreen
land acquisition by Open Space will be completed shortly. The land
swap with LaFarge has been completed.
Transportation-
Blackhawk road has been put on hold
for now. Funding is the problem.
Dick
Bartlett announced the December CARE Christmas Potluck will be held
December 14 at Dick Bartlett's house. Announcements to follow.
Meeting
was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
