Treasurer's
Report:
The treasurer’s report was presented by treasurer Cynthia Pougiales. The
current bank balance is $1,724.13. This does not include cash and check
contributions received for THREAT (Tower Hazards & Radiation Exposure
Above Tolerance) new escrow account of Antenna Tower Committee. Those funds
are being accounted for to the board, and details will be published after
county hearings.
Delegates' Reports:
Rilliet: Cynthia Pougiales reported sending out information letter to 45 residences detailing issues of concern regarding proposed antenna rezoning and wildfire danger.President's Report:Riva Chase: Connie Gruber expressed concern of her neighbors about negative impact of proposed new antenna tower on property values. Residents want new tower plan stopped.
Mount Vernon Country Club: Ricki Hoekstra detailed proposed improvements including remodeled swimming pool, addition of a gazebo and tennis courts.
Genesee Crossing: Jay Stateler expressed concern about traffic speeds on Mount Vernon Country Club Road, especially in front on Ralston Elementary School. Working to have a sidewalk added for students who walk to school.
Chimney Creek II: Bill Astle reported residents hired lawyer to sue developer over disagreements involving residential siding, landscaping and ponds. Attended Chimney Creek I homeowners’ association meeting to alert them to antenna tower issues and encourage their involvement in this issue.
Lookout Mountain Park: Carole Lomond said her neighbors actively oppose new antenna tower.
Genesee Foundation: Colin Barton reported replacement of two Genesee area community signs. Improvement of 1/2 mile of hiking trail in Juniper Court area for a total of 11 miles of trails.
Investigation continues into cause of winter wildfire which began on Genesee Foundation land. Expressed residents’ appreciation of wonderful cooperation during emergency by hundreds of volunteers from various agencies. Forest in fire area had been thinned, which helped keep it under control.
County agreed to sweep Genesee roads twice annually to remove sand applied during snowfall.
Genesee residents authorized their private traffic/security officers to ticket speeders.
Club house remodeling under way to add handicap access, new equipment will enhance Channel 3 programming and new brochure planned to detail Foundation role and services for residents.IParadise Hills: Deb Carney said Kevin Groenewig is new homeowners’ association president.
Pinecrest: Jeff Holland said this association is becoming more active.
Committee Reports:
HOA (Homeowners’ Association) Mentoring: Jeff Holland wants this to be a standing committee. Reported CARE web site now has links to area neighborhoods.New Business:Wildfire: Joan Schwarz said Wildfire Preparedness Committee member Pat Shanks to report March 22 on progress of maps for use in evacuation plan in event of area emergency.
Lariat Loop Heritage Alliance (CHAPS): Cynthia Pougiales asked for letter of support from CARE as a signer on grant applications. Jeff Holland will write this. Next meeting is April 12 at 7 p.m. at Morrison Museum.
Chavez Trail: Don Patton reported Clear Creek Land Conservatory continuing to discuss with area landowners.
Beaverbrook watershed: SOLVE voted to intervene in watershed issue with city of Golden.
Transportation: Deb Carney moved and Colin Barton seconded motion that CARE write a letter of support for city of Golden’s interests in planned Northwest Parkway. Bill Astle and Carol Lomond will write.
Land use: Bill Astle reported on HB1192 “takings bill” opposed by conservation groups.
Antenna Tower Committee: Deb Carney asked members to attend several hearings on antenna-related issues: March 30 on Mount Morrison antenna issues; April 7 on Channel 31 antenna before Board of Adjustment; April 27 on Lake Cedar rezoning for new antenna on Lookout Mountain. All meetings are at Jefferson County Administration Building in Golden. Large citizen attendance at these hearings will reiterate the community’s united stance. All agreed that CARE as an organization is opposed to ANY new electromagnetic radiation into our area, whether this be from Lookout Mountain or Mount Morrison sites.
A tower also is being proposed on Green Mountain for Jefferson Pilot organization. Neighbors have reported electrical interference from antenna that caused a child and an adult’s electric wheelchairs to go out of control in Riva Chase and Lininger Mountain.
